I know the old classic question but i just can't see the league being tougher, I think the union is more brutal Maybe someone who has played both sports AT THE SAME LEVEL (not pro VS amateur) can tell us his experienceI know the old classic question but i just can't see the league being tougher, I think the union is more brutal Maybe someone who has played both sports AT THE SAME LEVEL (not pro VS amateur) can tell us his experience

Rugby league is tougher, it has a faster paced and more tackles

I played both. And in my opinion league is tougher. In union, when you're about to tackle a player you can spare a few yards. In league, it tends to be more fast paced and the defense wants to get those 6 tackles as quickly as possible so they can get the ball. +Theres more high balls kicked, meaning more chances of getting injured when trying to catch it. The worst injuries have happened in rugby league. I prefer union though.

League is the toughest sport in the world with players at the top spending 22% of there time off the pitch due to injuries. Next is Union with 18%. Research has showed that in League that the hardest hits are equal to a 50mph car crash. In AF it's 35mph because the pads soak up the energy and Union is 21mph.

You don't have the player substitutes in rugby that you have in league. Unless in the front row any sub is permanent in rugby where league forwards virtually walk on and off, not a criticism but that is how it works. Rugby league is getting closer to NFL without the padding. Some of the tackles in league are huge but try working in the middle of a ruck. Played both, league in unlimited tackle (great), 4 tackle and one season of 6 tackle (which is world apart from tackle today).
