Are shoulder pads useful for reducing the occurrence of shoulder dislocation?

I popped my shoulder near the end of the rugby season and recently found out that I have hyper-mobile joints. As a result, my shoulder is more inclined to pop out again in the future unless I elect to have surgery. I'm considering using shoulder pads in the hope that they might reduce the movement at my shoulder joint and therefore reduce the chance of dislocation.I popped my shoulder near the end of the rugby season and recently found out that I have hyper-mobile joints. I wrecked my shoulder 4 years ago. Pads are only effective, according to my physio, in reducing soft tissue damage and bruising. Strapping is your only option.

Pads wouldn't stop you're shoulder from dislocating but it would help stop bruising or tears. Regardless, they do help so you should wear them anyway.
