It can definatly affect you in the field. It's not so much your weight, it's if your body is in shape or not. I'm pretty skinny but at the beginning of the season I was out of shape. Rugby is a fast paced sport, you have to run a lot. So don't focus too much on getting thin, focus on getting in shape.
It dosent matter how tall or fit u are or how much u weigh I am 15 played on a girlas team high school ages 14-19 I am 5 foot 2 and 125 pounds and I played many positions I played wing inside and outside center those are backs I also played flanker witch is a forward position so u will be fine
