Gumshields make me gag and I have compulsory rugby next week, What should I do?

Well I have compulsory rugby starting next week for the next 4-ish weeks and gum-shields make me physically sick but I really want to do as much of the sport as I can. Can anyone recommend any methods to stop this or any way to alleviate this. Also i have visited my own dentist and have had one made privately but this still doesn't help.Well I have compulsory rugby starting next week for the next 4-ish weeks and gum-shields make me physically sick but I really want to do as much of the sport as I can. cut off a bit of the back before putting it in hot water. nothing more i am aware of.

i gag if i bite hard on it i thought thats the only way you gagged maybe try shaping it beter and not clamping hard

I didn't know they were now compulsory. It is up to the individual. As you said, you gag on the mouthguard. I did too as a player so I never wore one.
