How bad would some one get injured playing rugby?

Lets say you were to throw a rugby ball at someones head with no mask....hhmm hmm....would you be taken to federal court?

We get some odd questions, but this is up there. Masks? Do you associate rugby with masks? Are you asking a general question about injuries in rugby -they range from trivial to catastrophic (just like in all contact sports). Many of us have played for many years with only minor injuries, but many of us know of serious injuries, too, among teammates or respected opponents. In the Australia-NZ test last weekend, two Australians suffered knee injuries that require major surgery and will be out for many weeks or several months, and one Kiwi had ribs injured badly enough that he, also will not play this week. Or, have you assaulted someone and so you want the utterly uninformed online opinion of a bunch of rugby players (not, in all probability, including many qualified lawyers) to advise you on how much trouble you may already be in? If it's the latter and you have not already been arrested, you probably won't be. You could still be responsible for civil damages, if say your victim needed dental work. But the only way I see federal charges would be if you threw the rugby ball into the face of the President. Masks?? As for being judged a hero for sorting out some tosser, well we don't know which of you was the tosser, do we? Mark L.

U would get a red card and probably be reported. Most people wouldn't do it anyway because they know they will get a red card. But the person getting hit could get a broken neck.

no, you'd be take to state court and charged with assault. that's the american way. if it happened in jolly old, you'd be excused for kicking the stuffing our of the tosser.
