Rugby question for high school?

Posted at: 2014-07-08
I am a sophmore in high school and i plan on playing rugby. Everyone says that rugby is a very tough sport and I no that but is it really that hard and dangerous? Ive played football for many years but I just didnt like it (I didnt mind the hitting it was just the sport itselft I didnt like). I watched rugby videos on youtube and the players were all bloody and stuff but this was in the professional league. I wont mind the running and the hitting but is it really as tough as people say it is. And is it fun and easy to learn the positions and stuff?I am a sophmore in high school and i plan on playing rugby. You will get injuries if you put your body on the line. Rucks are particularly dangerous with bodies strewn everywhere, but it's part of the game. You just have to prepare. Rugby is a less regimented sport than NFL. It is easy to learn the game, the rules may take a while as there is a lot of confusion but the basics really are - pass backwards (never forwards!!) and once tackled you go to ground you MUST release the ball backwards. Rucks must be entered from the back not the sides, and in the ruck you can take other players out so your team can play the ball from the ruck. Players do bleed, but trust me it is a rare occurrence. Good luck with your rugby career!
