Grant Fox used to have a bucket of wet sand run onto the pitch every time he set up for a kick. He would then quickly "mould" the tee himself, kind of like building a sand castle. It would be different, anyway. Edit: and now that he's mentioned it, Reuben is right. I have seen kickers use a small training cone to tee up the ball.
