I have a choice of switching to eight man from second row. Is it worth it?

I have the build of an eight man. Not so much second row. I am really tall but not light enough to be lifted in the line out because I am so big. Justify your reasons to yourself, think what you want from rugby and your postition, having played both for years, I would choose number 8 every single time, but it is completely up to you. You don't have to be lifted in the lineout at second row, Keiran Reid is a number 8 and a key lineout winner for the All Blacks. I find that number 8 is a bit more fun, more time on the ball, but it is completely up to you and what you want from your position.

your last question was your coach wants you as second row. you don't get to just switch. your coach will put you where you are needed.

You need to be quick on your feet, good at tackling and understand what is going on in the play to be an effective 8. Second row is more about bulk and strength.
