Tens of millions of people play it worldwide. I can`t help but think that they consider it fun to play. I know I do. As for speed -- well some positions require more speed than others. That said -- barring your pure track-type sprinters -- rugby wingers are as fast as any athletes in the world. It`s how they earn their living.
I've only played rippa-rugby and that is super fun. Rugby players can be fast, they are really fit though. The backs are the fastest though and then the Tens or Sevens players are even faster.
rugby is awesome, i loved playing it as a kid, great way to make friends and have a good time and get some great exercise, another thing that makes rugby great is that it's not an annoyingly complicated team sport; tactics are easy to understand and are fun to follow through
rugby is a fast pace and sometimes can be a confusing game but once you start to actually play it is one of the best sports anyone has ever invented. i wish i could play this year but i might try and join a out of school league that is going to be hard. the only main component people say they need for rugby is being able to run but when your adrenaline starts to go you don't even realize if your lungs are burning. practice is kinda hard but totally worth it. in my opinion you should try out for a bit and get a feel for it but don't give up because it is confusing.
