Training for rugby, help?

Posted at: 2014-07-08
Im going to play rugby this year, for the first time of my life. Don't know the rules, but thats not important. What is, is that i get into shape and get stronger for the season to start in a month. Im 6' 160 lbs my 40 is 5.96 (LOL). What kind of training should i do to increase my 40 time? I already found out that one of my problems is my running form, i land on my heels instead of toes. Any help is appreciatedIm going to play rugby this year, for the first time of my life. Don't know the rules, but thats not important. Obviously, try and start to land on your toes more. Also do a lot of explosiveness and core training, as well as aerobic and anaerobic. I'm 210lbs 5'11" and my 40 is 5.00. I also highly recommend getting your weight up. Squats, bench, etc. Strength training in general. Doesnt mean you have to be Arnold Schwarzeneger, but a little extra weight never hurt anyone, especially if it's muscle, which mean your going to have to eat alot in order to give your muscles energy to recover, BUT NO GREASY BUTTERY FOODS!!! Anyway I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the sport!!

I wish you all the very best - i don't think rugby would be the best starting point though!
