I know it's a very difficult sport and I want to start getting in shape for next season and need to know good exercises to get faster , stronger etc, I'm going for winger or centreI'm about to turn 17 and going to join my local rugby club at the start of the next season in August , I used to play rugby for a few years but left and I want to try and pursue my dream of being a pro rugby player. HIIT- High Intensity Interval Training. Its best to hit the gym and pack on some bulk than get to it cause you'll burn the fat off in the HIIT. Work on explosive exercises when at the gym, Deadlifts are one of if not the best rugby league muscle makers. Benchpress, cleans, Stiff legged deadlifts, Squat shrugs, squats and body weight exercises are great for it too Try doing 40m sprints at your maximum effort for say 10 minutes, than as you become fitter extend the distance and you should end up a fantastic player.
