What is the position in rugby that doesn't do as much as everyone else? One that a newbie would take up?

I know all rugby positions have important roles etc etc. I just want a simple answer. No need for a pretentious speech. Thanks for your time/help.

The position with the fewest assigned duties is flanker. Your basic job in that situation is to just chase the ball -- put yourself in the position to ruck, make tackles and generate turnovers. If you find yourself in a position to run a few crash balls to the inside, so much the better. Any time you find yourself close to the ball you have more or less got it right. This makes it an ideal position for any new player to learn something about the game before trying something a little more complicated.

Winger. They just catch the ball and run like ****.

If you are fast, then wing, but if you are big, then flanker, or second row xx

it depends on the team that you are playing for some teams use their forwards a lot so flankers would get used a lot more than usual and some teams use their backs more. I would say winger is the easiest because all you have to do is get the ball and run forward.

Wing is probably a good bet but you need good speed to do it well :) x

Probably a wing unless your a back orientated team.

everyone does play an important role!!!! but depending on the league especially high school. the weak wing far off to the side pretty much does nothing and I think the full back also does nothing but stands in the back round unless the ball magically gets kicked that far

Most young talented backs get put on the wing when they first start playing and once they get valuable game time, they then get the opportunity to play theirs actual positions. Example of this is Jonny wilkinson for England and George Lowe for Quins
