The old nz rugby news paper (before it became a magazine ) use to publish the excellent yearly rugby annuals which covered the AB and domestic rugby comps played that season including the now defunct Nth v Sth matches which featured the team players and captains names and I don't have those books anymore ! So sorry, but off the top of my head Frank Oliver may have been the Sths captain in the 79 encounter -- but I couldn't say with 100% certainty.
