Why are most New Zealanders obsessed about Rugby?

Its their national sport

Because it's the best sport in the world. The real question is why aren't all countries as obsessed with rugby as we are? @Matt 22- 0 bro what now?

It's our national sport just as Soccer is to Europe, Cricket to India and Gridiron to USA.

They aren't. They also enjoy cricket and are one of the world's top rowing nations. They are also number 2 on the international netball rankings.

Because its all they have...well pretty much. they are pretty good at causing upsets in other sports... i think the maoris like rugby because secretly they like to hurt people, probably some type of genetical trait...you know they use to be tribal warriors only a few centuries ago? kindof like trying to domesticate the wolf in a short period, they show the natural warrior instinct. rugby is like todays version of war, not the shooting type of war where someone physicaly inferior can kill someone 7 foot tall and built like a mac truck. rugby is the physical war of the modern era

They aren't, don't be so judgemental and stereotypical of them. Do your research.

New Zealanders are warriors that respect their enemies. If you look at their past and their culture they are fierce and ruthless yet they do it in a gentlemans way. Rugby is a warriors sport.

because they're good at it. Just like India with cricket, Brazil with football, Australia with rugby league and the Welsh with singing, when you're one of the best in the world at something, you want to make sure the rest of the world knows this.
