Why isn't Hawaii mostly surrounded with rugby?

Hawaii has so many Polynesians and the sport rocks so why not?

Hawaii is US territory and by that alone you should presume that they prefer American Football which they do, I've had the privilege to see there team take on Samoa but I don't think they have a national Rugby team. With that being said they could be good at Rugby, with the right training and management, any team can excel and test the top teams in rugby.

@Matt -- well the collared shirts are more of a description of the things Ralph Lauren calls a "rugby" shirt, rather than something someone actually wears on a rugby pitch. You obviously haven't seen a game in the last 20-odd years. As for the reason they play American football in Hawaii? They simply don't know better. That's the only explanation. I mean, American football? Really? A "sixty" minute game, which actually takes three hours to play, but where the ball is only live for about twelve minutes. Where the players are so unfit they have to whistle the ball dead and stop for a breather after every tackle. Where some players will -- literally -- cover more ground running to and from the bench than they will while the ball is live. Why not just spend your time watching paint dry? The situation will change in Hawaii as Polynesian pride takes hold in that state. The U. Hawaii gridiron team has already adopted their own version of the Haka -- how long can it be before they embrase the (better) sport that comes with it?

Cause nobody in hawaii wants to see men run around in high shorts and collard t shirts. Footballs so much better
