I'm 16, 5'10-11 and play flanker. Does height matter when playing flanker? Another question.. when I'm playing rugby I don't think my coaches know how much I work.. what could I do to stand out?I'm 16, 5'10-11 and play flanker. Does height matter when playing flanker? At 16, 5'10" is more than adequate. There are flankers playing professionally -- and great ones too, like Serge Benson -- who aren't a whole lot bigger. Benson was about 6 feet even and a little under 220lbs during his playing days. Playing loose forward is more about agression and work ethic than about size.

Height isn't too much of a problem. Neil Back. George Smith. etc etc etc Jean-Pierre Rives wasn't big either and every one noticed him because of his long bright blonde hair. Jean-Claude Skrela was on the other flank to Rives in many internationals and was just as good. But no one noticed him. Wear a bright orange scrum cap.

no not at all

no not at all im 15 5'2 and play flanker and to stand out just play your hardest it is easier to stand out in a game then in a practice u just need to work really hard to do your best and u will be rewarded with being a starter

Height dosen't matter too much wear something distinguishing like a scrum cap.
