First Rugby game at winger coming up, pointers?

I played rugby for about 2.5 years and recently switched from flanker to winger. What are some big changes I will see on both offense and defense? kicking rules, positioning and all those things. any pointers would be helpful. about me, 5'7" about 190lbs, fast and I handle the kicking for points/conversionsI played rugby for about 2.5 years and recently switched from flanker to winger. actually the back positions are no longer different because everyone can do everything these days. so do what you always did

It is likely to be shipped out to u. I am a 4/5 year rugby veteran and it works. In offense you may want to try a small kick over their heads then run through them pick it up and run it. But make sure you have support from your team mates, if you get issolated you can loose the ball quickly and give the opposition a chance to run through the gap you have created. In defence just keep the defencive line and try to keep the tackles smooth and quick.

I have been a winger for quite sometime now and have picked up some tips and tricks that work. If you have a good stepping ability always run close to the line and cut back inside, this almost always works for me. An defensive tip would be to always stay vertical facing the line. So if an opponent is running at you, they can't really go anywhere. If they try and step in you got them. And if they try to get through the outside line just push them out. I have alot more tips but I am quite busy. Good luck!

way too small for club rugby , as a winger you will rarely handle the ball unless you also do throw ins
