If rugby is popular in Argentina and Uraguay, why isn't it popular in Brazil?

Football (soccer) may be the most popular sport in Brazil, but it also is in Argentina and Uraguay as well, plus Brazil has a bigger population. Thoughts?

Pretty sure it is a result of long-term and substantial emigration of British to Uruguay and Argentina, starting in the 19th Century and continuing well into the 20th. Together with connections with British shipping and maritime commerce in the great ports of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. Not to mention the Royal Navy's positioning on the Falkland Islands. You presumably know of the large-scale migration of Welsh to Argentina? Check out the last segment of How Green was My Valley. There was never a comparable emigration of British to Brasil - and the language probably didn't help either. Mark L

It just hasnt taken off as much, they have a team but they need put more effort and resources into their national development. Not everyone in their country can be Neymar so surely more people will play rugby

You're just hoping that they will eventually get a women's rugby team in Brazil so they all play in thongs!
