Need help+tips for rugby?

Posted at: 2014-07-08
I'm 4ft 10, and 13 years old, I'm very thin and small, and I'm a girl. I'v started doing rugby and i have a tournament on Tuesday in the position of centre, the only problem is the people we are against are three times the size of me, and very big and bulky, I'd class myself as pretty good at rugby but the only problem is i will be in the position to get tackled a lot and possibly hurt. Is there any tips you could give that could help prevent me getting tackled alot, thanks xI'm 4ft 10, and 13 years old, I'm very thin and small, and I'm a girl. lol I'm 14 years old and 6ft 4. But being smaller you might have the advantage of being one of the fastest and elusive I guess. I play football (canadian) and just started rugby so dont have so much experience in the game. I feel rugby tackles are quite mild and as long as u use ur mouthguard well and protect your jaw and head nothing severe can happen with the fact that u are still in Grade 8. When u begin playing go and make ur first tackle or run as fast and hard as possible into the tackler, that will get ur adrenaline pumping which helps a lot. Once done that u wont be scared and will not feel the tackles so much. It works with me. Also when ur running into a tackle get low (which makes u more intimidating) and run as hard as possible and be the first to make the hit (u not the tackler) and follow through after being tackled. Use ur speed, size and elusiveness and the opponents size combined to ur advantage.
