What do you do if you play hooker in rugby?

i play in my schools 1st 15. my positon is hooker. everyweek my dad tells me im to loose around the field im not sure what he means can you please help haha?

when your dad says you're ''too loose'' i think he means you need to be getting in tight with the other forwards.. so basically get involved more in the ruck/ breakdown, instead of hanging around. the job of a rugby hooker (assuming this is union we are talking about) is to act almost like a 4th loose forward. As a hooker you are expected to 1. pilfer and steal oppositions ball (watch david pocock, he is undoubtedly the best pilferer/ ball stealer in the world) 2. you will be expected to scrum inbetween the props and try and rake the ball back with your foot when the opposition halfback puts the ball in. (ask your coach for the more technical aspects) 3. you will need to support players who go to ground by holding back enemy clean out attempts 4. run the ball forward HARD AND STRONG. 5. make plenty of tackles 6. Wear headgear because hooker's can suffer from ear problem through vigorous scrums 7. ASK YOU DAD if you are unsure of any terminology, he obviously wants you to be successful considering he is trying to give you advice.
