You should try to load up on complex carbs (eg. Pasta, rice) you should also eat whole grain foods. This is to build on energy stores for the game.

24hrs before game. Breakfast -- Porridge, with bananas or other fruits, use natural sugars from fruits to make the porridge sweeter. Porridge has a low GI which will keep you going throughout the day. Snack (10:30am-11:00am) -- Fruit, must be fresh, dried fruits is one of the worst things you can have, water. Lunch -- Fish with a small cup of rice, make sure vegetables that you'd prefer so you eat them. If you do not like seafood, there's also steak, 150g is a good serving to fill you up. If you want something light, boiled eggs, can add soy sauce or teriyaki, nothing too sweet though. Snack (3:3pm-5:30pm) -- Fruit and water. Dinner -- Just because it's the end of the day doesn't mean you can fill yourself up with everything, again have some boiled eggs and steak approx 150g is good again, with lettuce or other salads, or fish, DO NOT HAVE RICE AT NIGHT, it will make you feel partially bloated. Dessert -- Something sugar free, do not fall for fat free scams because, duh it has no fat, but it has amounts of sugar in it! You can get "99% sugar free'' ice creams in your store, but again don't fall for fat free things. If you still want to eat healthy, look at the carbohydrates listing on the back, if it has more than 10g of Carbohydrates in 100g(ml) DO NOT GET IT!

strangely a lot of players say pancakes

For breakfast you should have porridge, with some bananas. Don't forget some water with your breakfast as well. For lunch, have egg or pasta whith some whole wheat bread. Good source of protein. For a snack have a banana their the best source of energy as well as a bottle of water.

don't eat rich food (eg.alot of dairy cream) Just try to have it balanced as much as possible.
