If so is there something you have to do first e.g tapping the ball or it's just not allowed

If you are not "held down" -- for example if you are ankle-tapped -- by a defender you may just get up and continue to run with the ball. If you are taken down and "held" by a defender who for some reason then loses contact with you after the tackle -- usually because his momentum forces him to -- then you must still release the ball before you can play it. Just letting go of the ball and then immediately picking it up again is sufficient. However if a ruck has formed over you, playing the ball with your hands is now forbidden. You must plant or offload it and then try to roll away. See Law 15 at

If you are held then you have to release the ball and then you can get back to your feet and pick it up again if no ruck has formed yet. If you aren't held then yep you can just get back up.

YES, But u have to be well aware of ur surrounding, if u are tackled, gone to ground and held, then u must release the ball. But if ur tackled gone to ground with no one holding u, get up n play the ball. If ur tip tackled u can get up and continue running. U dont need to tap the ball to start
