Would Benji Marshall's Move To Union Be Sensible?

A. For him? B. For Union? C. Specifically for the Blues? BQ: Is it a big deal, or another marginal change. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Mark L

A. Perhaps. Maybe he'll earn more money and perhaps his career will last longer as Rugby backs don't tend to do as much defence as League backs. B. For Rugby, probably. He's a high profile individual, and may attract some League fans to the sport. C. Specifically for the Blues - I don't think so. I don't think he's more capable than any flyhalf (I assume that's the position he's going to fill) already playing in Super Rugby, and he has a lot to (re)learn as he hasn't played Rugby for over a decade. BQ: Not a big deal, IMO.

it will not benefit him as he will not get as much money as he was before and australia rugby will not want his as he runs sideways to much and no one likes this as a number ten. this might benefit the blues as they will have another big name player to me it isn't that big of a deal

It would be a good move. The Blues was his only real option. Benji was never going to play for any other national team but the Kiwis so any Aussie Super 15 side was never going to offer big money. He has skills. A good player in league, he is one who could transfer those skills to rugby.

I think he should. I think that rugby union is way better than rugby league and it would be great to watch him.
