Am I in danger playing rugby?

I'm thinking about joining a rugby team... However I am blind in one eye. Do people who play rugby have a high chance of destroying or injuring eyes? I'm scared of losing sight in my good eye. But I also want to join a rugby team. Any help would be much appreciated! - Revu :)I'm thinking about joining a rugby team... However I am blind in one eye. You should be perfectly okay to join a rugby team. The chances of damaging your eyesight I believe is very slim. I've only been playing rugby for 2 years now but everyone I know has never damaged there eyesight but a few people including me have broken bones but that's a risk you take when playing contact sports such as rugby, it's inevitable. Referee's are in control of the match and they won't take violence at all so don't be worried of anyone hitting you in the face because it won't happen. Go ahead and join, as I said, you should be fine

Its not completely risk free but you should be ok

I used to play with a guy called James who only had one arm. He was a damned good hooker and could catch a ball one handed better than some fully able bodied players. That should prove to you it can be done at the highest level.

Seek some medical advice on this issue first. Your eyesight is more important than a game of rugby which being a contact sport can produce all sorts of injuries even at a social rugby level.

In any sport be it rugby, football, basketball, tennis, there is always some risk of injury. Same as crossing a road, there is always that risk you may be hurt there.
