Are rugby knee braces good for preventing knee pain?

I play rugby on the wing/outside centre. I'm about 6'3" tall, I've got quite long legs and recently I've been getting knee pain, especially in contact. Whenever my knee gets hit by the tacklers body part it seems to be very tender afterwards. This is then worsened by running heavily. Are knee braces such as http://www.firstaid4sport.co.uk/cid/KPNVJ4D89E5TE0WP725EJJ0T41H06IS2/Mueller-427-Elasticated-Knee-Support-with-stays-PMU427/ good for my situation. Do they actually prevent injury and how? Also, is £19 a fair price?I play rugby on the wing/outside centre. They are good for managing knee pain. You must have some sort of injury already if your knee is tender and swollen after running. Knee braces give you added support and piece of mind. Try icing your knee after any activity to keep the swelling and pain down. It's about management once you have the problem.

I used to use to have a thing called oscaslattes (excuse the spelling). And I wore a brace which made me feel better and it didn't hurt so much when I did rugby
