Sure - why not? Of course, it is not likely that you will be in the run-on XV until you have learned something about the game and demonstrated that you are ready. But if you are fit, you can focus nearly all your attention on learning a position or two and the basic rules and tactics of the game. Put in the hard yards in training, be a good teammate, respect but do not fear your opponents, pay attention to the instruction from your coaches and senior teammates, and you will be ready to play rugby. Find the summer activities of the club - there probably will be touch or sevens, and some fitness work. It will allow you to meet your new teammates, learn a bit about the Club, and watch some Super 15 and/or International rugby with your new mates down at the team pub. That's all part of the experience and learning, too. Mark L.
