If someone wanted to could they make a new position or hybrid one?

Hey I was wondering if its stuck at the 15 positions forever or could someone make a new one. incase your confused, say a lock wanted to still be the jumper in the lineouts but wanted to be a the front of the scrum would that be aloud. And I know that would be a hybrid but that sort of says it.Hey I was wondering if its stuck at the 15 positions forever or could someone make a new one. incase your confused, say a lock wanted to still be the jumper in the lineouts but wanted to be a the front of the scrum would that be aloud. There is no rule in rugby about which "position" takes which role. In modern, elite level lineouts, for example, flankers might do as much jumping as the second-rowers just to give the side more options in that situation. And the habit of having a hooker doing the throwing in the lineout is relatively recent -- in the past it wasn't uncommon for wingers to take on that role. As for a "hybrid" position -- well much the same it true. So long as you have no more than fifteen players on the field, the role any particular player takes is entirely up to that side. If some innovative coach can figure a way for the players to be more effective, then more power to them.

Yes, there is no rule about what position has to be where. Generally though, you will be A position.
