In rugby - What would happen in a cup game. Where the scores were level after all extra time was played?

From the IRB site -- this refers to the world cup final. 1. Extra time - following an interval of 5 minutes, extra time of 10 minutes each way (with an interval of 5 minutes) shall be played in full; 2.Sudden death - if the scores are tied at the conclusion of extra time, and following an interval of 5 minutes, then a further extra time of 10 minutes maximum shall be played. 3.During this period the first team to score any points shall be declared the winner (sudden death); 4.Kicking competition - if after this sudden death period no winner can be declared, a kicking competition will be organised between the two teams. The winner of that competition shall be declared the winner of the match. For the Heineken Cup, they will play 20 minutes of extra time (10 each way) and then organize a kicking competition -- generally penalty kicks from the 22.

If all extra time is played then it goes straight to the shootout which is from or at least starts from the 22 meter line. There is another period of extra time meant for sudden death but I assumed you meant that was played as well considering the context of your question. Aidan: Leicester and Cardiff conducted the shootout from the center of the 22 meter line.

It's a penalty shoot out, recent one which happened is Cardiff Blues vs Leicester/Leinster (pretty sure its Leicester) I think it was the Heineken cup semi final and a prop missed, they shoot from 15 yards I believe It's on the results I could not get the link on YouTube as I'm on my iPod which sends me to the app Hope I helped
