Rugby and Protection goggles/glasses?

Hi I want to start playing rugby in my highschool and would like to know are you allowed to wear eye protection such as protection goggles or protection glasses? Also i know most of you would recommend contacts, but personally i don't like wearing them. I just want to know if it is legal to wear prescription goggles in highschool rugby.Hi I want to start playing rugby in my highschool and would like to know are you allowed to wear eye protection such as protection goggles or protection glasses? IRB regulations outlaw any sort of hard or rigid material in a players kit. This includes prescription lenses. I'm afraid that it is soft contacts, or nothing. It can be a pain. My vision is so poor that contacts can only do so much. I'm usually OK at ordinary distances and can tell who has the ball from the motion of the players. But every time a high ball goes up I see two of them. Good thing I'm a lock.

Law says that you cannot wear hard plastic items while playing rugby so it seems you are going to man up and not be able to see very well :L and even if you did wear glasses than your friends would probably make fun of you for wearing something to protect you eyes from damage :(

start wearing contacts. you need your vision and you will get used to them if you are patient.

i wear glasses and i'm a rugby player but in the match i wear contacts and if u'd wear goggels thy'd be in a millions peaces after the match :) at the beginning i was affraid tht the contacts would break or something like tht but after a while i stopped being scared of thm. trust me i play hooker, tighthead prop and flanker and nothing happend yet while i was playing rugby and wearing contacts
