Should I wear pads for Rugby?

I'm 14 years old, an outside centre, pretty strong. Would you reccomend pads for an outside centre? Do they help for tackling? Also, when I go into contact with the ball will it be harder or easier to bump people off?I'm 14 years old, an outside centre, pretty strong. Would you reccomend pads for an outside centre? Mate more than 75% of international rugby players wear protective gear, whether that be scrum caps, pads or even peices of foam tapped on. If you think u need it to increase confidence with tackling or rucking then just feel free to wear them. What pads are mostly good for is preventing long progressing injurings such had damaged shoulders from all the constant battering, it isnt all about stopping the big hits from hurting. @ Isaac, most internationals wear pads and they dont wear skirts, they play some of the best rugby in the world which is more than i can say for u pal...

If you wear pads buy a nice skirt to play in aswell.

The only padding you're wearing in rugby is very thin cushion, which doesnt help at all. I'm a girland have never worm padding in this sport. As for the times that you do go into contact, learn to position your body with shoulder coming first, make sure you're low and present the ball to your team. The more you play this sport, the better you''l learn to take pain.

shouldn't be necessary. Most of the guys I've played with didn't wear any protection at all, save for the tightheads and second rows wearing scrumcaps.

Lol obviously, unless you wanna die. Rugby is the most dangerous sport out there.
