i got a jersey for a rep team a year back but now its to small to wear, its tight on the sides, anyone have an idea on how to stretch it?

What material is it? If it's one of the cotton one's you can stretch it across the middle straight after the wash, when it's still damp. If it's a nylon one, forget it. Nylon rugby jersey's are extremely tough.
