What are your memories of Peter 'Fats' Fatialofa?

Was in shock really, 59 years old? That's too early. He was one of the more colorful characters of Samoan rugby along with guys like Bryan Lima. Great player, leader and an excellent roll model for youngsters and in particular the young Samoans coming through the ranks. I met him once, calm and humble man. At the end of the day it probably came down to us Samoans and our infamous food favors. RIP, Ia manuia lau malaga. Malo le tauivi.

A crowd favourite and one of those instrumental for Samoa's great performance in the second RWC. I always remember Gordon Bray's comment that his occupation was as a grand piano removalist. And he did look the part. Vale Peter.

Sad to hear about 'Fats' passing at age 54. Great stalwart of Samoan and Auckland rugby. I think the respect Samoan rugby has on the international rugby scene is because of the groundwork laid by 'Fats' as a captain and player and their coach 'Bee Gee' Williams in the early 90's. He was also part of that mighty Auckland rugby dynasty in the late 80's and if wasn't for Auckland having so many AB front rowers during that era -- 'Fats' may well of become an AB himself.

Well said, Swoope
