What does the calcutta cup really mean?

Beating Scotland is nothing more than dodging a banana skin, whereas beating England for the Scots has a significance that has nothing to do with piece of metal.

The Calcutta Cup was made from silver rupees donated to the rugby union by Calcutta Rugby Club when it closed down. It is the oldest trophy in rugby. If it means nothing to YOU just remember it means a lot to plenty of other people.

Tradition obviously means nothing to some people.
