Why do so many people in Massachusetts like rugby?

There is a rather large amount of area teams based in Massachusetts, and Blackoutrugby.com has a lot of good teams in Massachusetts. My question is why?

I can only guess it might be related to Harvard being there and the Harvard Rugby Club being the oldest in North America. To be honest I'm surprised the Ivy League schools don't endorse Rugby more strongly, it's a far more intelligent game than gridiron.

New England has always been something of a hot spot for rugby in the United States. Possibly because of the relatively close ties the Ivy League schools kept with their English Oxbridge counterparts?

Well I know the Bee Gees gave Massachusetts a big boost in tourism by naming a song after it. But why it has a large amount of footy teams I don't know. Are their alot of ex-pat Kiwis, Aussies, and Brits rugger players living there ?

great sport. we play a few each year. always a good time.
