Could I play Fly Half in rugby?

15 on Wednesday 5 foot 7/8 9 stone? Great footwork/evasive skills. Good pass. Good kicking skills. Decent speed Poor tackler

Too short, too light, too slow, defensive liability.

All those skills are useful and don't worry about your height or weight as your still growing. The key to a good fly half is knowing the game. As 10 you are general of the backs, they will all follow your lead and you decide how to attack from set pieces. Good communications with your centres and wingers is crucial and probably the best asset as I have played with poor 10s and have not had a clue about what there doing, if they swap ideas half way through then the back line has to adapt and if it's a chase ball it put you on the back foot already. My advice is to learn the game watch as many tens as you can not just pros but grass roots too see how you want to control the backs line and just have fun as if you take it too serious you'll end up hating the game.

Hey man. I play fly-half for my junior college. I'm 6 feet and 187 lbs. From what you've described you can most definitely play fly-half. My skill set fits yours almost exactly. I don't have great speed but I can make people miss. One piece of advice is to work on your tackling and also work on reading the game to make the right plays. As a fly-half you'll need to call the plays for the rest of the backline. To be good at this you'll need to be good at looking at space, and also have good decision making skills. You've got to know when to kick high, far, for touch, in play, grubber etc. Also tackling is important. If I was playing against you at fly-half and you miss your first tackle, I would identify you as the weak spot and call the plays that attack your gap or space. You would pretty much be a complete fly-half if you improved your tackling and decision making skills. Good luck playing rugby mate, hope you tear it up!
