Don't you think Rugby League and Rugby Union should join and become one sport?

Well the obvious answer is that they shouldn't have split in the first place. And they are merging to a degree as we see more and more of those League backs who are good enough to make the conversion get snatched up by Union clubs. As things are, the remaining League players and clubs are free to join the larger (and better) game of Rugby Union anytime they like. Of course the forwards are going to find themselves out of work as they don't have the scrumming, rucking or lineout skills required in the Union game. But there is apparently something about that version of the game which appeals to the League base (I can't imagine what it is myself) and presumably they are going to stick with it. So I don't see it happening, at least in the foreseeable future. Edit: I don't see either option as realistic. League's fan base is relatively small, but it is also fanatical. The game also has the Murdoch media empire behind it. I don't see it disappearing -- at least not anytime soon -- nor do I see them caving (as it would be perceived) to the Union game. Things will carry on pretty much as they are. And Bill P. neatly summed up an idea I struggled to express. There's really nothing to be gained for the Union game in any possible merger. The League base is simply too small.

No. There's nothing in it for union to do this. A fan base in the eastern seaboard states in Australia and in the north of England and that is it. In these two areas league is very popular and will continue to stand up for themselves.

No. Two different sports that play with a similar shaped ball. Why not make basketball and netball one sport?

No, keep them as they are now.

no, i don't.

Hell no

They should join if they think that will increase fan support.
