What Position Should I Play?

Posted at: 2014-07-08
I'm 14 years old, 45kg, 5'6 tall. I would like to know what position i should play for rugby union. I am fairly fast but not super fast. I am not skinny neither am i muscly. I can kick every single type of kick there is besides doing very long kicks. I can step pretty well and my passing is all right. I can kick for goals as well. my drop kicks are not very good. Sometimes they are good but sometimes they are rubbish. This will be my first season for rugby. I was either thinking i should be a winger, fly-half or outside centre. My catching is all right but sometimes i will drop the big bomb. Please help me with what position i should play. Thank you.I'm 14 years old, 45kg, 5'6 tall. If you are not confident with catching, winger will not be a good position. Fly-half would suit you based on your size. Cut-out passes, stepping and kicks are all pretty important, as well as normal catching and passing. When I was 14, I was around your size and played Flanker, which is often seen as an introductory position to rugby, as they have not much set responsibility (Try and get the ball of the opposition). It can be a gateway to other positions, but I have stayed in the position and represented state level once. So, either Fly-half or flanker.
