During that time SA were in Apartheid. The whole world did not want any sport contact wiht a nation where their was racism and inequality between races. So when they were allowed to come over here and tour it split the nation. half of New Zealand hated the idea of apartheid and didn't want them touring in New Zealand, the other half just wanted to watch rugby and couldn't see why they were mixing politics with sport.
