Hey, you seem to be ambitious about your rugby, that's great! First of all, if you are under 14 remember you are lucky to have plenty of time to play at a high level. Focus on preparing well and improving your game and things will come naturally. That being said it's great to have a short term objective of being selected in a good team. My recommendation: prepare mentally and physically for that upcoming game so that on D day you give your very best. You are a winger so work on your speed and agility. Remember that most of the rugby players rarely have to sprint for more than 30 - 40 meters during a game - Acceleration speed is thus more important that pure "maximal" speed. The ability to change direction, step, deceive your opponent AND most importantly read the game and be in support of your teammates is also super important. Look at the good wingers, some are obviously super fast - but often they score by just being in the right position at the right time ;) If you are not selected this time, keep working harder and perhaps ask for some feedback to your teacher. If you want to prepare seriously, have a look at the speed and agility articles on good luck mate
