Can you do this in rugby?

when someone chasing you, can you crouch/go on you knees so the trip over you? we do this in the playground when we're mucking about.

"Not held" means that the defender isn't in contact with you at any time while you are off your feet. lt usually only applies if you are ankle tapped or something like that. lf your knees are on the ground and the defender trips over you, you are -- by definition -- both tackled and held at that moment. You need to release the ball before you can pick it up again.

Haha, I can safely say I have never seen someone attempt that and for good reason. You could technically go to ground and hope the chaser somehow trips over you without making a tackle but even then, the chaser would be goal side of you. The best thing to do if you can't get away is to carry the ball in two hands and look for an offload, even if this means slowing down and even stopping. This is how its done: PS: Goose-steps rarely work, especially if you have already rounded the player

Ya but its a stupid thing to do because you will probobly get turned over

Yes you can, but you better be careful as if they hold you in the slightest when you're on the ground the ref can ping you for not releasing, so to be honest it's really not worth it. The best way to lose someone if they're chasing you is to do goosesteps or change your running angles. You should watch some of the top sevens players, they're really good at it.

You are correct. You don't have to release the ball unless you are held. If you are ankle tapped, and are not held, you can get up and carry on.

No. As soon as you go off your feet, you must release the ball. Which may give possession to the other side, who will promptly attack and may score.
