Just teach them touch rugby. It's much easier to play and learn. No forward passes, no scrums, rucks or lineouts. Possession changes after a pre-determined number of touches (including one).
the best way to do it is have them do no forward passes, when they are touched simply place the ball and wait in front of it for a teammate to pick and go or pass. whenever the ball is dropped (not placed, but dropped after a pass) or there is a forward pass, then possession changes. be sure to teach them the fun of kicking!
