There is no professional rugby anywhere in North America. The highest level played in the US or Canada is semi-pro only, so any payment made to the players is minimal at best. Those members of the American and Canadian national squads who actually make a living playing the game (I'd guess there are currently between 10 and 20) do so with foreign clubs -- mostly English or French ones.

American rugby players don't make money unless they are very, very good...good enough to play professionally overseas, which is rare because in those countries the players are better.
