Poll: Who wears head gear when they play rugby?

It's really up to personal preference. They tend to be worn more by forwards because of the amount of time they spend in rucks and in the scrum. I play second row and typically wear a scrum cap mostly to minimize wear and tear to my ears. I've seen people in every forward position wear one and occasionally backs as well (probably because they like to keep pretty). As a game wears on they definitely become uncomfortable due to the amount of sweat that builds up underneath.

I never used to, but I got knocked TF out playing league once when I was tipped upside down and dumped (a spear tackle). I've always worn one since - it's probably saved my ears from cauliflouring as well, at least I'm better looking than my old man!

I play second row, but choose not to wear one. Personally I find them uncomfortable &impairs my senses, meaning I feel i'm not playing to my full potential. Therefore sometimes tape my ears back instead. Admittedly, if I felt more comfortable, i would definitely be more inclined to wear one due to the reduced potential damage from an impact to the head.

I do Play loosehead.. certainly cuts down abrasion and eliminates the limpet effect of sticking my ear to the opposing tighheads ear

I never did, just some tape around the ears. In junior football many competitions have a requirement that the players wear headgear.

I'm a medic for the South County Crusaders in Utah, &I think all the boys should wear the head gear. If you really want specifics, #3,4,5,6,7,8
