Which is tougher, Rugby, or American football?

And why? Also, I understand football and rugby are two games played entirely different. So don't worry

We are bored to tears with this question. Get it over and over again, apparently almost entirely form adolescent American boys. And it gets answered in kind by adolescent SH boys. Hurray for Our Side! These are games - things we *play*. If we enjoy them, as players or supporters, we tend to stick with it. Anyone who feels the need to demonstrate how "tough": he is should just go our and enlist in his country's armed forces. There's a way to find out how tough you are, and do something worthwhile for society at the same time. Meanwhile we will run out to our favorite field games - rugby union, gridiron, League, AFL, hockey, football (soccer), lacrosse, or Ultimate Frisbee, and just have a good time with our mates and get some good exercise. Hope you can, too. Mark L.

When you get down into it, football is a wimpy version of rugby, as football has pads, helmets, etc.

American football, we may wear pads but we hit 10x harder. Id love to see a rugby player take one hit in football, even with pads
