Any advice? I'm not very big but play centre, 5'11, 11 stone/ 70kg. I really like the physicality of running onto the ball but won't I get smashed because of my weight or is it more about technique? cheersAny advice? there isnt a rule that says you have to smash into someone in front of you, work on stepping off your left and right foot, leave the samoan sidestep to the big fellas

Force=mass x acceleration as you can see weight is only half of the equation so are you muscular with little fat? If not I suggest losing fat and gaining muscle even if it is only enough to stay at your current weight. Fat is effectively slowing you down losing it will make you faster. Technique wise maintain a low body position and keep your legs pumping. It is actually more about mentality you are going to get smashed but you can not be intimated remember there will always be someone stronger but you have to keep running into them.

Shane Williams may have been the smallest man to play professional Rugby. He's been tackled so many times and has lived to tell the tale. Don't worry but practice your side-step.
